Share a loan with the other person
When you lend money to someone who also uses Presupeso, share it: you both see the same figure, every payment one of you writes down reaches the other to confirm, and each of you keeps it in your own budget.
On this page
A loan between two people almost always ends up in two different accounts: the lender's and the borrower's. If you both use Presupeso, share it: you both see the same figure, and every payment one of you writes down reaches the other to confirm. Each of you keeps it in your own budget, and neither sees the other's accounts or budget. Sharing a loan is included in every plan.
How to share it
- Open More › Loans and IOUs and tap Share a loan.
- Choose what happened: I lent or They lent me. Write who, how much and which account the money left from (or arrived at), the date and, if you like, a note. You both see the note.
- Tap Create the link. The loan is written in your budget at that moment, like any loan in Loans and IOUs.
- Tap Share the link to choose where to send it (WhatsApp, Telegram, email), or WhatsApp, or Copy the link. Presupeso doesn't message anyone: you send it.
If the loan was already written down (you lent your brother money a month ago and he already paid part of it), don't write it again: open that person in Loans and IOUs and tap the button to share it. What they owe today is shared, without duplicating anything in your budget.
What the other person sees
With the link, the other person sees your first name, how much is owed and what has been written down. Nothing else of yours: not your accounts, your budget or your balances. If they don't use Presupeso yet, they can look at it without an account, or tap Create my free account: they come in through Invite and earn, so that invitation also counts as yours. If they already have an account, they tap I have an account: sign in.
Once in Presupeso, they choose which budget to keep it in and how:
- The money arrived at one of my accounts (or left from it): the usual. It's written in that account.
- Just the debt, without touching my accounts: for an old loan whose money is no longer in any account.
- I already have it written down: if they already kept it in their Loans and IOUs under your name. Nothing is duplicated, but the figure has to be the same.
When they tap Accept, the loan is shared. If the link reached them by mistake, they tap Not mine: you get the notice and the loan stays in your budget as a normal one. The link expires after 15 days and can be accepted only once; if it expires, open the loan and tap Send the link again.
A payment, from both sides
Camila lent her brother Andrés $ 300,000 from her Nequi and shared it. Andrés accepted it with his Nequi: the $ 300,000 came into his account and left hers. They both see “Andrés owes Camila $ 300,000”.
Andrés pays her $ 100,000 through Nequi and writes it down himself: he opens the loan and taps Write down a payment. In his budget the money leaves right away, because it already left his Nequi. Camila gets a notice on her phone (and on Telegram, if she linked it): “Andrés wrote down a payment of $ 100,000. Do you confirm it?”. Until she confirms it, the figure they both see stays at $ 300,000, and the payment shows separately, to confirm.
Camila checks her Nequi and taps Confirm. She chooses which account it arrived at (the one she used last time is already selected) and at that moment the $ 100,000 enters her budget, in Ready to assign. Now they both see “Andrés owes Camila $ 200,000”.
The same the other way round: if Camila receives the payment and writes it down first, it enters her budget right away, and Andrés gets it to confirm from his account.
See moreWhy what one person writes down doesn't count until the other confirms it
If a payment counted as soon as it was written down, either of you could lower the debt by typing a figure. That's why the figure you both see comes only from what you both agreed on, and what was written down and not confirmed is shown separately. In the budget of whoever wrote it down, though, it counts right away: if Andrés already paid, his Nequi already has $ 100,000 less, and his budget has to say so. For Camila, the money exists when she confirms it, because that's when she says it arrived.
All your shared loans in one place
In More › Loans and IOUs, at the top, the Shared loans entry gathers them all. First comes what is waiting for your answer, with its two big buttons, and then each person with the figure you both see and what is waiting to be confirmed. When something is waiting for you, the red number also shows over More.
When something isn't right
If what the other person wrote down isn't true, tap Not correct and, if you like, tell them why. Nothing changes in your budget. They get the notice and decide: tap Correct and send again with the right figure, or Undo mine if they got it completely wrong.
Each of you can Correct or Delete what you wrote down. If the other had already confirmed it, the change goes back to “to confirm” for them, and meanwhile what you had agreed on still counts. Whatever is part of a shared loan isn't corrected or deleted from Transactions: it's done from the loan, so the other person finds out. The note and the category can be changed there.
See moreWhat happens if you empty your budget or delete your account
If you empty or delete the budget where you kept the loan, the loan carries on, because it also belongs to the other person. Nothing changes for them; you are asked to tap Choose where I keep it, and it's picked up as “just the debt”, without touching your accounts.
If you delete your Presupeso account, the loan becomes view-only for the other person, with the notice that you're gone. In their budget it stays as a normal loan. Nothing is left of you: not your first name, your email or your account. They keep seeing you with the name they gave you in their Loans and IOUs (for example «Beto»), or as «The other person» if they hadn't given you one.
See moreYour shared loans in the export
In Settings, «Download everything (JSON)» includes your shared loans, and «Download shared loans (CSV)» gives them as a table, one row per entry. You get the same as you see in the app, from your side: which budget and account you keep it in, what you call the other person, the status, what was agreed, what is waiting to be confirmed and each entry with its type, amount, date, status and who wrote it down («tú», you, or «la otra persona», the other person). Nothing of the other person: not their budget, their accounts or their email. More in Export your data.
With your AI
“Share with Juan what he owes me”, “how much do I owe Gerson?”, “I paid Gerson 50 thousand through Nequi”, “yes, confirm Juan's payment”. Your AI gives you the link to send, tells you the figure you both see and what is waiting to be confirmed, and asks you before confirming or saying something isn't correct. It only writes things down: it doesn't move real money.
Frequently asked questions
Does the other person see my budget or my accounts?
No. They see your first name and the amounts of that loan, nothing else. You don't see theirs either: not their accounts, categories, balances or which budget they keep it in.
Can I write down a payment without signal?
Yes. It's saved on the phone and sent by itself when the signal comes back; meanwhile you see it in Waiting to be sent. Confirming, though, needs a connection: it's your word to the other person and it isn't saved for later.
What if the other person keeps their budget in dollars?
For now you both keep it in the same currency. If the loan is in pesos and their budget is in dollars, when accepting we tell them clearly and ask for a budget in pesos.
