Record transactions
Expenses, income and transfers; what pending and to-review mean; how to fix or delete.
On this page
A transaction is money coming into or going out of an account. There are three kinds:
| Kind | What it is | What happens to your budget |
|---|---|---|
| Expense | Money leaving an account: groceries, the bus, a subscription. | It's deducted from its category's Available. |
| Income | Money coming in: salary, a sale, a refund. | Without a category, it goes to Ready to assign. |
| Transfer | Money moving from one of your accounts to another: an ATM withdrawal, paying the card. | Between budget accounts, it doesn't touch any category. |
Record an expense or income
Tap + and enter:
- Amount.
- Account: where it came from or went to.
- Category: what it was for (for an expense). Income usually goes without a category, to Ready to assign.
- Payee (optional): who you paid or who paid you.
- Date: today by default.
- Note (optional).
You can also dictate it with the microphone or ask your AI: «spent 18,000 on lunch with my Visa». See Connect Claude and ChatGPT.
A refund (a purchase was returned) is recorded as income with the original expense's category: that way it goes back to that category and not to Ready to assign.
Transfers
To move money from one of your accounts to another, choose Transfer and say from which account and to which. Presupeso stores two linked transactions: one going out and one coming in.
- ATM withdrawal: from the bank to cash.
- Paying the card: from the bank to the card.
- Topping up your wallet: from the bank to the digital wallet.
If the two accounts have different currencies, enter how much left and how much arrived: the difference is the rate you got.
Pending: what the bank hasn't charged yet
A card purchase can take days to show on your statement. Mark it as pending: it counts in your budget right away, but you know the bank doesn't show it yet. When it shows up, remove the mark. When you reconcile with the bank, pending transactions aren't counted.
To review: what arrived on its own
Transactions coming from another YSNOne app (for example GastroSquad), or those an AI recorded in bulk, may arrive marked to review. They already count in your budget, but they're waiting for your approval: look at them, change the category if needed and approve them. You can approve them one by one or all at once.
Uncategorized
If an expense is left without a category, Presupeso flags it: that money left and isn't deducted from any envelope, so your budget looks better than it is. Open it and give it a category.
Fix or delete
- Tap any transaction to change the amount, date, account, category or note.
- To delete it, Presupeso asks you to confirm on screen. If it's a transfer, both parts are deleted.
- A reconciled transaction (already matched with the bank) is protected: changing or deleting it requires an explicit confirmation, because it would throw off the reconciliation.
Every change goes into your budget's change log, with who did it and through which door (the app, the assistant, Claude or ChatGPT, or another YSNOne app).
